The Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir at Ayodhya is the new temple at the traditionally identified birthplace (janmabhoomi) of Lord Shri Ram. The prāṇa pratiṣṭhā, the consecration ceremony installing the divine presence in the sanctum, was performed on 22 January 2024 (Pausha Shukla Dwadashi, Vikram Samvat 2080), in a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister of India and broadcast to a global audience of hundreds of millions.
The complete temple complex, including the Ram Darbar, the six rampart shrines, and the seven sage mandapas, was declared fully complete on 25 November 2025, when the Prime Minister hoisted the ceremonial saffron flag (Dhwajarohan) atop the main shikhara. Total project cost: approximately ₹1,900 crore. The mandir now receives 1 to 2 lakh devotees daily for darshan, with peaks of several lakh during festivals such as Ram Navami and Deepotsav.
Where it stands
The temple occupies the elevated ground of Ramkot in western Ayodhya, on the banks of the Sarayu river. Approximate coordinates: 26.7956° N, 82.1947° E. Devotees commonly approach via Ram Path, the main pilgrim avenue rebuilt for the temple’s opening.
